The Role

A NSW Government agency is seeking an experienced Applications Tester to lead testing efforts on a major asset management system modernisation program - migrating a legacy ecosystem to a modern technology stack and data model. This is a hands-on, lead-level testing role reporting to the Test Manager, covering System Integration Testing, UAT, regression, and defect management through to go-live.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead testing across all project phases (SIT, UAT, regression, and more), ensuring functionality and integrations meet requirements
  • Design, implement, and execute test plans, test cases, and scripts for functional and non-functional testing
  • Coordinate the testing process - identifying SMEs for UAT, scheduling, and tracking delivery against timelines
  • Own test documentation: strategies, plans, results, and reporting
  • Lead defect management - tracking, prioritising, and escalating issues ahead of go-live
  • Run testing status and risk updates with key stakeholders
  • Manage automated test execution where applicable

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 7 years' QA testing experience in large/medium enterprises, including 3+ years in a Test Lead or senior role

  • Experience testing in-house developed software, including legacy technology and database integration
  • Experience with data migration, ETL, and data validation testing
  • Proven ability across Functional, Regression, UAT, and Performance testing strategies
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and test management tools (e.g. Value Edge or similar)
  • Experience delivering testing within both Agile and Waterfall environments
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills - able to translate technical issues for non-technical audiences

Desirable

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools
  • Experience testing GIS environments, ideally ESRI Enterprise GIS products
  • Knowledge of NSW Government asset management practices

Eligibility: Candidates must be able to pass relevant government pre-employment checks.
