Reporting to the Group Manager - Strategy, the M&A Analyst will support the identification, evaluation and execution of acquisition, partnership and investment opportunities, providing research, financial modelling and commercial analysis to support key strategic decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Research and identify potential acquisition and partnership opportunities.
- Maintain M&A target lists, company profiles and opportunity pipelines.
- Conduct market, industry, competitor and company research.
- Analyse financial performance, forecasts, working capital and key transaction metrics.
- Build and maintain financial models, valuations and scenario analyses.
- Support due diligence, data room reviews and transaction workstreams.
- Prepare analysis, briefing papers and presentations for management and Board consideration.
- Track transaction milestones, risks, actions and deliverables.
- Support integration planning and post-acquisition performance tracking.
- Contribute to improving M&A tools, processes and analytical capability.
About you
You'll be an analytical and commercially minded professional with a strong interest in M&A, corporate strategy and investment analysis. You'll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in financial analysis, commercial analysis, transaction services, corporate finance, investment banking, consulting, strategy or a similar analytical role.
- Strong analytical, numerical and research skills.
- Sound financial modelling and valuation capability.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate work within deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively across teams.
- Exposure to M&A, due diligence, valuation, investment assessment or business case development will be highly regarded, as will experience in industrial, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing or resources environments.
