This role is for a Senior Civil Designer who enjoys working on urban development projects and wants to grow into a Principal Designer role over time. You’ll be hands‑on in design, trusted with complex work, and involved in shaping practical outcomes across residential, commercial and mixed‑use developments, with exposure to supporting infrastructure projects.
About the Role:
You’ll be responsible for delivering civil design packages primarily across urban development projects, from early concept and DA through to detailed design for construction. This includes earthworks, roads, stormwater drainage, water and sewer reticulation, preparation of BOQ’s as well as coordination with other disciplines to ensure designs are buildable and authority‑ready. There is also some involvement in broader civil infrastructure work, providing variety without shifting the role away from its urban development core. Alongside your own design workload, you’ll review and guide the work of designers and drafters, act as a technical sounding board, and gradually take on more responsibility coordinating design outputs as the role evolves.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience in urban development civil design, from concept through to construction
- Confidence producing and reviewing designs using AutoCAD and 12d Model
- Working knowledge of 12d Drainage Module (dynamic drainage desirable)
- Solid understanding of Australian standards including state and local authority requirements
- A practical, delivery‑focused mindset with strong attention to detail
- Willingness to mentor and support other designers
- Some exposure to civil infrastructure projects
- Experience reviewing or coordinating the work of others
The environment and team:
You’ll be part of a Brisbane‑based civil team that works closely together and values technical quality, clear communication and steady delivery. The team includes experienced designers and engineers, with support available when needed, but enough autonomy for you to genuinely own your work. This is an environment that suits someone who takes pride in their designs, enjoys helping others improve, and prefers a measured, professional workplace over high‑pressure churn.
Why Join?
- Urban development focused work with some infrastructure variety
- A genuine senior role with a supported pathway into a lead position
- Strong technical exposure without being forced into people management
- Long‑term stability and consistent workflow
- Support for ongoing technical and leadership development
- An extra day of annual leave on your birthday each year!
- Top up paid maternity and paternity leave
- Annual $250 wellbeing subsidy to use towards healthy lifestyle initiatives
- Grow our team with our generous referral scheme
