Amber is an entirely new way to buy and sell power, designed for a world powered by renewable energy. We give customers direct access to the real-time wholesale electricity price as it varies every 5 mins and the technology to shift more of their energy usage to the times when cheaper renewables are available in the grid. It’s a cheaper way to buy power, a smarter way to sell power, and the fastest way for Australia to reach 100% renewable energy.
We are a clear category leader in Australia for home battery automation and are growing rapidly (close to 100k customers). We have also recently expanded into licensing our core technology to utilities overseas, including a partnership with E.ON Next in the UK. Amber is backed by leading Australian and international investors, including Square Peg, Main Sequence, Breakthrough Victoria, Commonwealth Bank, NRMA, Gentrack, ETF Partners and E.ON Next. Most recently, Amber raised a $78.5 million Series E, led by 1GT, Morgan Stanley Investment Management’s climate tech fund, alongside participation from existing investors.
We are scaling rapidly and you’d be joining a team of over 250 committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and purpose-driven culture as we transform a major industry. Our products are reshaping home energy: Amber for Batteries cuts bills by exporting stored energy at wholesale prices of up to $20/kWh, and Amber for EVs enables the cheapest, cleanest charging. In 2026, we are pushing this even further with our new vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology.
About the role:
- This is a client-facing, individual contributor role.
- This role sits within Amber's tech licensing business, which partners with leading energy retailers globally to bring them cutting-edge products to reduce consumer bills.
- As the founding Partnerships Director in Australia, you'll own the most important partner relationships in the AU business, helping them unlock scale with Amber’s technology.
- This is not a high-volume account management role. You will own a handful of accounts, but they are partnerships of high complexity and commercial significance.
- Expect to be actively managing 25 or more external stakeholders per account.
- Review, refine and deliver account strategy to ensure partners achieve consistent, measurable value from Amber from onboarding to renewal, while driving revenue growth for Amber.
- Drive account growth by spotting opportunities through the networks you build.
- Act as the voice of the partner inside Amber, surfacing what's working, what isn't, and what partners need next.
- Build your account expansion playbook as you go, in partnership with the VP of Business Development, and the wider delivery team.
- Lead and own the quarterly business review process.
- Maintain accurate account plans, health metrics, and CRM records.
You’ve worked at the enterprise end of B2B - not managing hundreds of accounts, but going deep on a small number of large, complex partnerships where relationships are everything and commercial stakes are high. You know what it's like to navigate a major organisation, get the right people in the room, and move things forward without direct authority over anyone. You’re commercially sharp, with a sales mindset and a focus on revenue growth.
The strongest candidates will bring:
- A track record of growing large, complex enterprise accounts - ideally in B2B or B2B2C SaaS, energy technology, utilities, or a related sector.
- Background in either energy retail, SaaS, energy tech or similar industries with strong grasp on relevant trends and implications.
- Demonstrated ability to grow accounts, not just retain them.
- Experience navigating large, matrixed partner organisations.
- Executive presence and the ability to influence C-suite and VP-level stakeholders.
- A roll-up-your-sleeves mentality.
- Comfort with long cycles and high stakes.
- Passion for the mission and a growth and ownership mindset.

Salary range is between $160,000 and $200,000 base salary (excluding Superannuation) with an annual performance bonus (~20%) tied to account growth and retention outcomes. All permanent full-time roles at Amber include employee stock options over and above the base salary and superannuation.
If this kind of work gets you excited, we'd love to hear from you! Even if you don’t meet 100% of the requirements listed above, we still encourage you to apply. We're open to all backgrounds and encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply.
