AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

Logistics Specialists play a vital role in the success of Amazon Web Services by providing the right part, in the right place at the right time. Your contribution would be maintaining the onsite parts room in AWS Data Centers, managing the custody of computer hardware through their entire lifecycle. This involves receiving parts, safely storing parts, picking and delivering parts to hardware technicians, cycle counts, and shipping faulty hardware back to the vendor.

You will work closely with Data Centre Operations and Engineering teams to ensure reliable functioning and repair activities to support our customers, while adhering to our operational tenants of safety, security and availability.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Maintaining inventory to ensure that proper stock levels are managed to support build and repair activities.
  • Physically receiving and issuing out of parts as needed for internal customers.
  • Loading, unloading and transporting parts between different sites.
  • Maintaining the safety, organization, and cleanliness of all workspaces using Amazon 7S principles.
  • Process improvement: Analyse operational data, metrics, and existing workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Automation: Identify repetitive, manual tasks suitable for automation and propose tooling solutions to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
  • Standardisation: Drive consistency in how logistics operations are performed across sites within the cluster.
  • Metrics and visibility: Develop or enhance metrics, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms that give the team and leadership better visibility into logistics performance.
  • Continuous improvement culture: Proactively bring forward improvement ideas and contribute to a culture where the team is always looking for a better way to operate.

Travel: The role may require the successful candidate to travel to other sites in the Melbourne metro area to assist in conducting cycle counts, receiving stock into the inventory control system, replenishing stock and returning defective stock.

Physical / Environmental Demands: Amazon operates with a principle of safety first. The activities below are required with the safety principle applied:

  • Loading and unloading shipments.
  • Standing, sitting, and walking (including stairs) for prolonged periods of time.
  • Willing and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend and kneel.
  • Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance.
  • Push or pull heavy objects of up to 16kg into position and participate in group lifts of 20kg or more.
  • Work with and/or around moving mechanical parts.
  • Work in an office and warehouse environment where the noise level is low to moderate.

Your day will be spent carrying out logistical support functions across our Data Centers, ensuring that our operations teams have the parts and materials they need to keep infrastructure running. You will manage the end-to-end lifecycle of spare parts, from receiving and ingesting inbound shipments at the loading dock, to stowing parts in designated bin locations, processing break/fix and project part requests, and coordinating outbound shipments including site-to-site transfers and reverse logistics.

Inventory accuracy is a core part of the role. You will conduct regular cycle counts to maintain alignment between physical stock and system records, targeting 100% bin count completion each semester.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license with access to a personal vehicle for daily use.
  • 2+ years of shipping & receiving, inventory and warehousing practices experience.
  • 2+ years of logistics experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of team leadership experience.
