About the Role
- ALS Environmental is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our
- Metals team based at our Laboratory in
Kirwan, Townsville.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in science who is keen to build their laboratory skills in a hands-on, technical environment.
You'll receive on-the-job training across a wide range of analytical processes, laboratory techniques and quality procedures, while working as part of a supportive and experienced team.
In this role, you'll play an important part in delivering accurate, high-quality results for our clients through the preparation and analysis of environmental samples.

This is a permanent, fulltime position on a week-by-week rotating roster. Shifts are
6am-2:15pm and 10:30am-6:45pm, Monday-Friday.
- The Day to Day
- The successful applicants will undertake a range of duties including the following:
- Preparing and analysing environmental samples.
- Ensuring preparation, analytical procedures and related tasks are completed in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions.
- Organising designated tasks to support daily workflow and maximise efficiencies.
- Completing tasks within required timeframes set by the Supervisor and relevant analysis standards.
- Identifying and highlighting anomalies in results, sample types or sample behaviour.
- The Essentials
- The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
- A genuine interest in science, supported by either University or TAFE qualifications.
- Experience with ICP-MS, which would be advantageous.
- A high level of attention to detail.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- An understanding of good laboratory practices.
- A high level of computer literacy.
- The ability to work well in a team environment.
