- Purely Technical Leadership, No Team Management Requirements
- Major Transport, Renewables, Olympic Precincts & Infrastructure Projects
Technical Lead Ecologist to join a global Engineering and Sustainability Consultancy whose Queensland Ecology team has grown from a standing start to eight people in just two years.
The growth has been impressive, driven by major infrastructure, renewables, developments and Olympic precinct projects. Now theyβre looking for an experienced Queensland Ecologist to round out the technical capability of the team.
With a botany-heavy group already in place, fauna expertise would be particularly valuable, although a strong botanical background is equally welcome.
The Role
This is a purely technical leadership position. Youβre not being brought in to run a team or chase work, but to bring technical depth, guide project delivery and mentor a growing group of Ecologists.
- Lead technical delivery across Environmental Impact Assessments, EPBC referrals and ecological assessments.
- Work on major transport projects involving Koala and Migratory Bird requirements.
- Provide technical reviews, mentoring and specialist advice to the eight-person Ecology team.
- Bring deeper Queensland ecological knowledge to a team with strong consulting experience but varying levels of local exposure.
- Potential to develop capability in critical minerals, mining ecology or biodiversity offsetting depending on your expertise.
The Team
Two years ago, this consultancy brought in an Ecology Leader to establish its Queensland capability. Today, that team has grown to eight and is delivering significant projects, with much of the work generated internally through established engineering and environmental teams.
Itβs a genuinely good culture, backed by a highly regarded global brand, with the resources and project diversity to keep an experienced technical Ecologist interested.
Experience
- Ideally 15+ years in Ecology consulting.
- Deep Queensland ecological knowledge and legislative experience.
- Strong fauna or flora expertise, ideally across major project assessments.
- Comfortable mentoring Ecologists and reviewing complex technical work.
