We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more accurate science-capable AI β€” and we need expert biochemists to make it happen. As a Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert, your deep knowledge of molecular biology, enzyme kinetics, metabolic pathways, and structural biology will directly shape how AI reasons about life sciences. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for PhD-level scientists who want to apply their expertise beyond the bench β€” no AI background required.

What You'll Do

  • Design Challenging Problems β€” Craft advanced biochemistry questions spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, drug-target interactions, and more to rigorously stress-test AI reasoning.
  • Author Ground-Truth Solutions β€” Write precise, step-by-step technical responses that serve as gold-standard benchmarks for AI scientific reasoning.
  • Audit AI Outputs β€” Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy, scientific soundness, and logical consistency.
  • Refine AI Reasoning β€” Identify and document errors in AI logic β€” such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied enzyme kinetics β€” and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.

Who You Are

  • Advanced Degree β€” PhD completed or in final stages in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
  • Deep Domain Knowledge β€” Strong expertise in one or more core areas: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics.
  • Clear Technical Communicator β€” Able to explain complex biochemical and chemical concepts in precise, well-structured written form.
  • Detail-Oriented β€” High accuracy when reviewing chemical equations, reaction mechanisms, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols.
  • No prior AI experience required β€” your scientific expertise is what matters.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific peer review.
  • Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST.
  • Background in bioinformatics or cheminformatics.

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top-tier research labs.
  • Fully remote and async β€” work when and where it suits you.
  • Freelance autonomy with meaningful, intellectually stimulating work.
  • Get a front-row seat to how advanced AI models are trained and evaluated.
