We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models β€” and we need mechanical engineers to make it happen. This is a unique opportunity to apply your deep domain knowledge in a brand-new way: stress-testing advanced AI on the hardest problems in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and beyond.

What You'll Do:

  • Design Complex Engineering Problems β€” Craft advanced, multi-step challenges across domains like FEA (Finite Element Analysis), heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics to push AI to its limits.
  • Author Ground-Truth Solutions β€” Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning β€” clear, accurate, and built to engineering standards.
  • Audit AI Reasoning β€” Evaluate AI-generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic derivations, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with standards such as ASME and ISO.
  • Refine AI Thinking β€” Identify and document logical errors in AI reasoning β€” from incorrect force distributions to energy conservation violations β€” and provide structured feedback that directly improves model performance.

Who You Are:

  • Advanced degree (Master's pursuing or completed, or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong domain knowledge in one or more of: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes.
  • Analytical communicator β€” able to translate complex physical phenomena into clear, precise written explanations.
  • Detail-oriented β€” rigorous when checking mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints.
  • No prior AI experience required β€” your engineering expertise is what matters.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or technical review workflows.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS.
  • Background in research, academia, or technical writing.

Why Join Us:

  • Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects alongside world-class research teams.
  • Fully remote and flexible β€” work on your own schedule, as much or as little as fits your life.
  • Freelance autonomy with meaningful, intellectually stimulating work.
  • Contribute to AI development that will shape the future of engineering and science.
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension.
