Alchemy Recruitment is partnering with a state government client to support them in recruiting for an Engineer (Civil) on a contract to 30 June 2027 (with possible extension), based in Nerang on the Gold Coast.
About the role
- Pay rate of $71.18 to $77.52 per hour + super
- Contract to 30 June 2027 with possible extension, immediate start
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
- Assess heavy vehicle permit applications received through the NHVR portal
- Undertake engineering assessments of proposed routes, covering vehicle dimensions and mass, road geometry, intersection turning movements, clearances and infrastructure constraints
- Prepare detailed assessment notes and recommended access conditions or reasons for refusal for Senior Engineer review
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to clarify route constraints and coordinate technical advice
- Reports to the Senior Engineer (Civil) within a regional asset management team
Preferred Requirements
- Experience applying civil engineering principles to road, traffic or transport projects
- Exposure to heavy vehicle access, NHVR permits or the Heavy Vehicle National Law (highly regarded but not essential)
- Familiarity with swept path analysis, road geometry and clearance assessment
- Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to document clear, defensible recommendations
- Ability to manage a caseload against set timeframes and know when to **escalate**
- Confident communicator with internal and external stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Four-year, Washington Accord accredited Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), or equivalent assessed by Engineers Australia (mandatory)
- Current Class C driver’s licence (mandatory)
- Own suitable PPE (mandatory)
- Willingness to undergo a criminal history check (mandatory)
