Agilis Accountants is a growing accounting and business advisory firm. We build long-term relationships with our clients and help them improve their businesses, going beyond getting their returns lodged. Our team is close-knit and forward-thinking, and we work with offshore team members every day to deliver great results.

About the role

We’re looking for a Tax Accountant with client advisory experience, or the potential to grow into a client advisory role, to join us. If you have 3+ years in public practice and want to step up into a role with more ownership, client contact and leadership, we’d like to hear from you.

Our clients are growing businesses, so there are plenty of chances to go beyond compliance. You’ll work on tax planning, structuring, cash flow and growth strategy, and build relationships with business owners who value proactive advice.

You’ll manage your own client portfolio, give practical tax and business advice, and be a go-to person for the team. That includes training and reviewing work from our offshore staff.

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing and lodging tax returns and financial statements for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships
  • Tax planning and year-end advice for clients
  • Preparing budgets, cash flow forecasts and management reports
  • Identifying ways to add value for clients and recommending tailored solutions
  • Advising clients on accounting software and process improvements
  • Liaising with the ATO, banks, brokers and financial planners on clients’ behalf
  • Training, mentoring and reviewing work from junior and offshore team members
  • Managing workflow to meet budgets and lodgement deadlines

About you

  • 3+ years of experience in an Australian public practice accounting firm
  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Registered Tax Agent, or close to meeting eligibility
  • Client advisory experience or the potential to develop it, and you’re confident speaking with business owners
  • A team player who also works well on your own initiative
  • Leadership potential, with a genuine interest in training and mentoring others
  • Experience working with offshore teams, or a willingness to learn
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax legislation
  • Proficient with cloud accounting software (Xero, MYOB, QBO) and Microsoft Office
  • Well organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines

What’s in it for you

  • Lots of advisory opportunities with a quality client base
  • Autonomy and trust to manage your own clients
  • Ongoing professional development, including webinars, workshops and CPD support
  • A supportive, dynamic team culture
  • Competitive salary package of $110,000–$140,000 plus super
