Are you in to engines, tools and working with your hands? Get paid to learn your trade in a clean, well-equipped workshop, working on everything from utes to heavy trucks.

Ready to Build Something Big?

AGA is on the lookout for a switched-on 1st Year Heavy Diesel Mechanic Apprentice to join a host employer in Bairnsdale. You’ll be employed by AGA through the Group Training Organisation (GTO) model, giving you support throughout your apprenticeship while you learn from qualified tradespeople and build real skills on the job. Most days will be spent getting hands‑on in a clean, safety‑focused workshop, with some on‑site work to mix things up.

What You’ll Be Wrenching On

  • Get hands‑on with servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs
  • Work on a seriously varied fleet—from utes and light commercial vehicles to heavy trucks
  • Learn to use workshop tools and equipment safely and confidently
  • Work side by side with qualified tradespeople on inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Hit the road for on‑site jobs when needed
  • Keep your tools and workspace clean, safe and ready for action
  • Complete your apprenticeship training and study as you build your trade

You Could Be a Great Fit If…

  • You’re curious about trucks, engines, machinery or how things work
  • You’re reliable, turn up on time and are keen to have a go
  • You bring a positive attitude and enjoy working with a team
  • You notice the small stuff and take safety seriously
  • You’re happy to work in the workshop and head out on‑site
  • A current driver licence—or working towards one—would be a bonus

Why You’ll Love It

  • Employment with AGA through the GTO model
  • A nationally recognised trade apprenticeship
  • A placement with a local Bairnsdale host employer
  • Support from AGA throughout your apprenticeship
  • Real experience across a great mix of vehicles
  • Plenty of guidance from experienced tradespeople
  • A clean, organised and well‑equipped workshop
  • A mix of workshop and on‑site experience to keep things interesting

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds who meet the requirements of the role.
