Ag Border Contracting is seeking a Farm Hand to assist on a small mixed cattle and grain farming operation based at Clifton on the Darling Downs. Working alongside the owner and independently as required, you will help with livestock care, feeding, property maintenance and seasonal cropping activities. Working days will be arranged by agreement, with some flexibility required around weather, livestock needs and seasonal workloads. This role offers approximately 1-2days of casual work per week. Duties and hours will vary according to farm priorities, seasonal activities & weather conditions.
Key responsibilities
- Mixing grain & preparing livestock feed as directed
- General cattle handling, yard work and livestock duties
- Monitor cattle wellbeing and promptly report signs of illness or injury
- Check & maintain water points, troughs and supply systems
- Carry out fencing repairs and assist with installing fences and gates
- Undertake general farm maintenance, minor repairs and property upkeep
- Operate tractors, farm machinery & attachments
- Assist with ground preparation, spraying, planting & harvesting as required
- Complete prestart checks & routine machinery care
About you
- Previous experience with cattle & general farmhand work
- Experience operating tractors and farm machinery safely
- Experience with grain mixing, cropping operations, chemical handling and machinery maintenance
- Current Drivers Licence & reliable transport to the property
- HR Drivers Licence would be advantageous
- Ability to work independently & communicate clearly
- Ability to carry out the physical requirements of the role safely
