Our client, a well-established renewable energy developer, is seeking a Project Development Officer to support the delivery of utility-scale solar and stand-alone battery energy storage (BESS) projects across Australia.

This role supports the end-to-end development lifecycle, working closely with the Origination Manager to progress projects from early-stage development through to financeable, construction-ready status. The Opportunity

You will play a key role in advancing large-scale renewable energy projects by managing development activities, budgets, programs, and specialist inputs. The position suits someone who thrives in a technically complex, stakeholder-rich environment and enjoys seeing projects progress from concept to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Project Development

  • Support projects from early development through to development close
  • Manage project programs, budgets, documentation, and reporting
  • Coordinate technical studies including site surveys, bushfire, acoustic, and environmental assessments
  • Support development approvals and EPBC Act compliance

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

  • Liaise with State and Federal Government departments to support approvals
  • Manage community consultation activities where required
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication on project progress

Land & Approvals

  • Assist with securing site options, leases, and site-specific permits
  • Support landowner and stakeholder engagement activities

Grid Connection

  • Support grid connection applications and study packages
  • Coordinate with network service providers, regulators, and internal grid teams

Reporting

  • Prepare regular internal and client-facing project status reports
  • Deliver ad-hoc reporting as required

About You

You will bring experience supporting the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects and be confident managing consultants, approvals, and multidisciplinary workstreams.

Experience

  • Utility-scale solar and/or stand-alone BESS development experience
  • Consultant and stakeholder management across development phases
  • Exposure to grid connection and regulatory approval processes
  • Strong project administration, document control, and reporting capability
  • Experience managing project programs and budgets
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel on an ad-hoc basis
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams
