Be part of a supportive teaching hospital offering professional development opportunities and access to specialist expertise and mentoring. At Adelaide University, we create the opportunities you need to achieve your ambitions – because when you thrive, we thrive.

As a Veterinary Clinician, you’ll provide high-quality GP care to small animal patients, with opportunities to be involved in Emergency & Critical Care (ECC). No two days will be the same as you work alongside experienced specialists to manage a diverse range of cases and deliver evidence-based patient care.

Working in a teaching hospital means we offer you more than a clinical role. You will have the opportunity to provide real-world learning experiences for veterinary students, helping them develop the skills and knowledge to become confident, capable veterinarians. Longer consultation times allow you time to thoroughly investigate complex cases, collaborate with specialist teams and deliver excellent clinical outcomes.

Part of a broader multidisciplinary hospital, we offer Small Animal, Large Animal and Pathology services, with specialist expertise across Orthopaedics, Oncology, Anaesthesia, ECC and General Practice. You’ll have access to advanced diagnostic equipment including ultrasound, X-ray and CT, a dedicated radiographer and an on-site Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.

The team reports to the Hospital Director, and you will join the Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital's Small Animal Hospital, a collaborative team providing GP, referral and emergency veterinary services. Working alongside experienced specialists, veterinary nurses and support staff, you will contribute to exceptional patient care while supporting the University's teaching and research mission.

Our people are guided by purpose, curiosity and a commitment to lifelong learning. We embrace authenticity, innovation and collaboration, and harness diverse thinking in our pursuit of excellence. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a supportive, hands-on clinical environment where every day brings something different.

You’ll work alongside experienced specialists, care for a diverse small animal caseload, and play an important role in mentoring the next generation of veterinary professionals. With opportunities for professional development and ongoing learning, you’ll be supported to grow your clinical expertise while making a meaningful contribution to animal care, student education and the broader veterinary profession.

To join our community and thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience:

  • Veterinary qualification with registration or eligibility to be registered as a veterinarian in South Australia
  • Experience providing GP veterinary services for companion animals
  • Experience of high level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of clients and team members
  • Proven ability to contribute to service quality and continuous improvement
