About the Role:

Have you always wanted to work in a large tertiary hospital and have an interest in Anatomical Pathology? If so, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

Join a supportive and dedicated Anatomical Pathology team and play an important role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services that contribute to positive patient outcomes. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for receiving, sorting and processing specimens, performing established diagnostic and technical procedures, preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination, and undertaking embedding, microtomy, and a variety of staining techniques. You will also support the preparation of cytology specimens for analysis, including cell block preparation, and perform frozen sectioning of specimens for immunofluorescence analysis.

Working in a collaborative laboratory environment, you will assist with the preparation of reagents and laboratory materials, use and maintain histology equipment, monitor consumable stock levels, and undertake routine laboratory duties that support the smooth operation of the service. The ideal candidate will be a motivated and approachable professional who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team and values collaboration. They will bring strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work in a dynamic laboratory environment. With a positive attitude and excellent communication skills, they will build strong relationships with colleagues, contribute to a supportive workplace culture, and demonstrate flexibility in responding to changing priorities and service needs.

Please note prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:

  • Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.

Note: This is a temporary position available for 11 months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
