Digital Service Design Officer Full-time Temporary with a Possibility of Permanency

Closes: 09 November 2026

Details: We are seeking a creative and innovative Digital Service Design Officer to join our team. Working under limited direction and reporting to the Director, the role will research and assess user needs to design engaging, user-centred digital experiences using Microsoft 365 products, including SharePoint. This includes developing and publishing collaboration site content that promotes Directorate services and supports schools and teachers in their day-to-day work.

The role will assess software requests from schools and Education Support Office (ESO) staff, working with subject matter experts to determine suitability for the ACT SchoolsNET environment. It will prepare briefs for Executive Branch Manager (EBM) approval, covering software requirements, costs, use cases and potential security and privacy risks. The role will also work with ICT security officers, vendors, partners and suppliers to support the effective packaging, deployment and ongoing support of Teaching and Learning systems.

The successful applicant will provide technical support, training and guidance to teachers and school staff, including through school visits where required. They will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver responsive, high-quality services and undertake other duties appropriate to the classification level and priorities of the Branch.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for six months with the possibility of permanency.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.

Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved.
