Ready to broaden your experience and contribute to meaningful workforce projects? The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) is seeking a motivated professional to join the Workforce Strategy team in a short-term higher-level opportunity. Working within a small, high-performing team, you will provide administrative support to an array of people projects and workforce reform initiatives that support CIT's strategic priorities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in HR, project support, change management or policy who is keen to develop their skills in workforce strategy and gain exposure to complex organisational issues.

What are we looking for

We are looking for a proactive and organised professional who enjoys solving problems, analysing information and supporting the delivery of projects. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, working to deadlines and collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation. You will have strong communication skills, good judgement and attention to detail. Most importantly, you will be willing to learn, adaptable and focused on delivering practical outcomes.

What will you do

Working closely with the Assistant Director, Workforce Strategy, and the broader team, you will provide high-level administrative and project support across workforce planning, organisational design and reform initiatives. This will include coordinating meetings, workshops and consultation activities; preparing correspondence, reports, presentations and other workforce documentation; and maintaining accurate project, governance and workforce records.

You will also help keep projects on track by maintaining plans, monitoring milestones, following up actions and supporting implementation activities. The role will assist with gathering and presenting workforce information, coordinate stakeholder communications and provide responsive day-to-day support to ensure the team’s priorities are delivered efficiently and professionally.

What will you need

You will have experience providing administrative or project support, with strong organisational, communication and attention-to-detail skills. You will be able to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, prepare accurate documents, work collaboratively and handle sensitive information with discretion. An interest in human resources or workforce projects would be an advantage, but specialist experience is not essential.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Notes

This is a temporary position available immediately for three months with the possibility of extension up to six months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. Applicants should note that a Joint Selection Committee (JSC) established in accordance with the collective/enterprise agreement provisions will assess all applications for this position.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service. Where an offer of employment is for a fixed-term period, any related temporary contracts within the Territory will be issued in compliance with the requirements and applicable exceptions outlined in the Fair Work Act.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved.
