The Policy, Planning and Built Environment Group is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director, Infrastructure Planning and Modelling within the Strategic Planning, Transport and Policy Branch.

The Assistant Director within the Infrastructure Planning and Modelling Team provides high level professional outputs and analysis on technical traffic/transport modelling approaches and data provision. This may include technical advice on the interpretation and implications of transport and traffic modelling results in support of various activities (project and infrastructure planning, development approvals, operational road policy decisions) that require inputs from transport and traffic models.

The Infrastructure Planning and Modelling Team provides the evidence base for strategic planning and transport decision-making. The team maintains the Canberra Strategic Transport Model and related analytical tools, undertakes infrastructure planning and forecasting, analyses the implications of growth and development scenarios, and translates data and modelling into strategic policy, planning and investment advice for government decision-makers.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • Hold a relevant professional qualification in Engineering, Architecture and Project Management or accreditation with a professional body recognised within Australia; or
  • Hold a relevant building degree; or
  • Have a significant building or infrastructure knowledge and/or project management experience.
  • Tertiary qualifications in transport planning/civil engineering/traffic engineering and/or related disciplines with a minimum of five years’ experience.

This is a temporary position available for up to 12 months. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position is located in a workplace designated for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved.
