- We're looking for a carpenter who has outgrown being told what to do
We have been around for over 6 years.
Decks, pergolas, ramps, structural carpentry, renovations, insurance repairs, NDIS and aged-care accessibility modifications, and ongoing property maintenance.
Small team, high standards, and services all of metro Melbourne.
What this role actually is
You take a job from the quote to the handover.
You read the plans, sometimes you may price it, you may order the materials, you run the site, you close it out.
You'll have carpenters and subcontractors working under you, and an Operations Manager who backs your calls instead of second-guessing them.
No two days look the same.
A deck one week, a bathroom modification for an NDIS participant the next, a strata repair after that, then a storm damage make-safe.
If variety is what you want, you'll get it.
If you need the same job on repeat, you won't enjoy this.
- Who we're after
- The attitude we're hiring for
- You take ownership. If something's wrong on site, you fix it or you flag it β you don't wait to be asked.
- You have been told over and over again that you're the best person for that job - the go to chippy!
- You're good with people.
Our clients are homeowners, NDIS participants, strata managers and families living in the house while you work in it.
How you speak to them matters as much as how you build.
- You lead rather than supervise.
- You want the bigger role. We're building this business to run without the owner in it, and the person in this seat is the obvious candidate for what comes next.
- You do it right when nobody's watching. This is the one we won't compromise on.
- The experience that backs it up
- MINIMUM five years post-apprenticeship. Not five years total β five years after you got your ticket. This is a hard minimum and we don't make exceptions.
- You read structural drawings and engineering details, and you know when something on paper won't work on site.
- You understand permits, inspections, and what a building surveyor needs to see.
- You've priced real work before. Quotes with exclusions, that made money.
- You've worked across job types β carpentry, maintenance, accessibility modifications, second fix, insurance repairs. Not one thing for ten years.
- Experience with NDIS or aged-care home modifications is a strong advantage. If you don't have it, we'll teach you β the standards matter and we take them seriously.
- You own your reliable vehicle and a full kit.
- Who this isn't for
- If you're under five years post-ticket, this isn't the one. Come back to us when you are β we'd rather hear from you then.
- You dislike working by yourself
- If you need a supervisor to tell you what's next, this will frustrate both of us.
- If you've only ever done new-build framing on volume sites, this is a different game β our jobs change weekly and half the skill is pricing them right before you start.
- If you're the best carpenter on site but nobody wants to work with you, we'll pass. We've built a team we like turning up to, and we won't trade that for output.
- If your last three roles lasted eight months each, don't apply.
- The package
- An attractive base, depending on what you bring, plus superannuation
- Vehicle allowance and a fuel card.
- Genuine progression. Our next senior role gets filled from inside, not from SEEK
Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
