Are you an experienced Payroll Specialist with hands-on experience processing payroll within Workday Payroll? We are partnering with an established organisation seeking a confident and capable Workday Payroll Specialist to provide short-term payroll support while their Payroll Manager is on leave. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong Workday Payroll expertise who can step in, hit the ground running and work independently with minimal training.

The Opportunity

Working within a predominantly salaried payroll environment of approximately 500 employees, you will be responsible for supporting payroll operations and managing post-payroll activities. The monthly payroll will already have been processed, so the focus will be on on-demand payments, reconciliations, reporting and general BAU support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process on-demand payments directly within Workday Payroll
  • Prepare, run and interpret payroll reports
  • Manage PAYG, superannuation and payroll tax requirements, including reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and queries
  • Troubleshoot payroll-related issues within Workday
  • Provide general end-to-end payroll support as required
  • Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance and timely completion of activities

About You

To be successful in this assignment, you will have:

  • Essential: Proven, hands-on experience using the Workday Payroll module to process payroll
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, PAYG, superannuation and payroll tax
  • Experience processing on-demand payments and managing payroll reporting
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • The confidence to work autonomously with minimal handover
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach

Please note: Experience using Workday HCM/HRIS alone will not be sufficient. You must have direct experience with Workday's payroll processing functionality.

What's on Offer?

  • Short-term contract: 9-30 November 2026
  • Remote working options available, including interstate candidates
  • Full-time or part-time arrangements considered (3-4 days per week)
  • Straightforward, predominantly salaried payroll environment
  • Opportunity to utilise your specialist Workday Payroll expertise
  • Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience
