We are looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis, specialising in breakfast service. Working alongside our experienced chefs, you will help prepare and deliver a high-quality breakfast experience for our hotel guests. This is an opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a luxury hotel environment and contribute to a kitchen team that values quality, consistency and teamwork.
This role requires 5:30am starts, so you will need to be comfortable with early morning shifts and able to reliably travel to the hotel at this time.
What you’ll be doing...
- Prepare and cook breakfast dishes to a high standard, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation.
- Assist with daily mise en place and ensure all ingredients are ready for service.
- Maintain a clean, organised and well-stocked workstation.
- Follow food safety, hygiene and storage procedures.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth and efficient breakfast service.
- Monitor food quality and presentation, ensuring every dish meets our standards.
- Assist with stock rotation, deliveries and stock control as required.
- Contribute to a positive kitchen culture and support your fellow team members.
Qualifications
- A genuine passion for cooking and an interest in developing your culinary skills.
- Previous kitchen experience, ideally in a hotel or busy breakfast environment.
- A relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent experience.
- A strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards.
- Good organisation, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently during busy service periods.
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn and a strong team focus.
- Availability for 5:30am starts, including weekends and public holidays as rostered.
- Reliable transport or a dependable way to get to the hotel for early morning shifts.
