The East Rockingham Waste-to-Energy Facility in Western Australia generates electricity through the combustion and processing of waste materials. As a continuous-process industrial plant, it relies on electrical, instrumentation, control and safety systems to run safely, reliably and efficiently. Your work keeps those systems performing, including during outages and shutdowns.
About the Opportunity: You will report to the Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor and maintain, test, troubleshoot, calibrate and repair the plant's electrical, instrumentation, control and safety systems. This is a senior technical position. You will work independently, make sound technical decisions and apply diagnostic skills in a complex continuous-process environment. You will support the Emerson Ovation DCS and Safety Instrumented Systems, and look for ways to improve plant reliability. You will also help develop maintenance procedures and perform effectively during outages and emergencies.
Key accountabilities for the position will be:
- Troubleshoot, test, calibrate and repair process instrumentation and control systems to protect plant reliability and process stability, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, gas analysis, vibration, control valves and actuators.
- Support the Emerson Ovation Distributed Control System (DCS): diagnose controller, network, workstation and field communication faults, assist with upgrades, software changes and commissioning, and support control strategy optimisation.
- Maintain and proof test Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and safety instrumented functions (SIFs), perform corrective maintenance, take part in SIL verification, management of change (MOC) and functional safety, and ensure compliance with IEC 61511.
- Maintain and diagnose LV distribution, MCCs, switchboards, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), motors, generators, UPS, power monitoring and auxiliary electrical systems, test to applicable standards, and support outages and shutdowns.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Trade qualification in Electrical, Certificate III or IV in Instrumentation, Western Australia Electrical licence.
- Minimum 10 years industrial experience instrumentation and control maintenance with significant experience in power generation, Waste-to-Energy, utilities, petrochemical, refining, chemical processing, mining or heavy industrial environments.
- Hands-on instrumentation fault finding calibration, testing and commissioning, with experience supporting Emerson Ovation or other DCS platforms, maintaining and testing SIS, troubleshooting complex control loops, industrial communication networks and protocols, and using CMMST.
- Technical knowledge of Emerson Ovation DCS, SIS, IEC 61511, HART, Industrial Ethernet, PLC systems, control valve diagnostics, process analysers, motor control, VSDs, MCCs, loop checking and electrical testing.
- Must have current drivers licence and ability to undertake a successful National Crime Check and Pre-employment Medical.
