For more than 40 years, the North Qld Export Terminal, located at the Port of Abbot Point, has demonstrated its commitment to safety, efficiency, responsibility, and partnership with the local community. APO has been contracted by North Queensland Export Terminal Pty Ltd to manage operations of its coal export terminal at the Port of Abbot Point - Australia’s northernmost coal port - located 25 kilometres north of Bowen, between Townsville and Mackay, serving as the gateway to the Whitsundays.
Abbot Point Operations has an exciting opportunity for a Project Delivery Superintendent to join our team and play a pivotal role in leading the successful delivery of our project works program. Reporting directly to the Manager – Engineering Services and Project Delivery, you will oversee a portfolio of projects and lead a team of Project Managers and Supervisors to deliver outcomes aligned to APO’s strategic objectives.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and coordinate the delivery of APO’s approved annual and 5-year project works program
- Oversee project performance across scope, cost, schedule, risk, and quality to ensure successful outcomes
- Act as the key interface with senior leaders and stakeholders, providing clear communication on program process and critical issues
- Drive continuous improvement of project management systems, processes, and practices
- Manage commercial engagements and contractor performance to support safe and efficient delivery
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning of project works
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven leadership experience managing project teams in complex operational environments
- Strong knowledge of project management frameworks, engineering principles, and delivery methodologies
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent trade/industry experience
- Highly developed communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
- Experience in ports, bulk terminals, or heavy industry (desirable), along with SAP exposure
