Finance & Payroll Officer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Finance & Payroll Officer to join our team at our Dandenong South office. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the financial health of our organisation by managing payroll operations, accounts administration, and general financial tasks. You will work closely with our management team to ensure accurate and timely financial record-keeping, supporting the smooth operation of our business and compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Processing and administering payroll for employees, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, deductions, and superannuation
• Preparing payroll reports and reconciling payroll accounts on a regular basis
• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing and payment authorisation
• Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with accounting standards
• Reconciling bank statements and general ledger accounts
• Preparing financial reports and assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Managing tax compliance matters, including PAYG withholding and reporting
• Processing expense claims and reimbursements
• Providing support to management with financial queries and administrative tasks
• Ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and promptly

What we're looking for

• Certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related qualification, or equivalent practical experience
• Demonstrated experience in payroll processing and administration
• Proficiency with accounting software and payroll systems (experience with MYOB, Xero, or similar platforms is advantageous)
• Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, tax requirements, and superannuation obligations
• Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office software
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels
• Reliability and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information
• Problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to tasks
