Key responsibilities
- Operate John Deere and Kubota tractors and orchard-specific implements (mowing, spraying, mulching, hedging and harvest support) safely and to standard
- Use Trimble and GreenStar auto-steer systems accurately, including set-up and basic troubleshooting
- Complete pre-start checks and report faults or damage to the mechanic promptly
- Help the Supervisor allocate daily tasks across a crew of 3–5 people
- Lead by example on pace, quality and attitude, and lead the crew when the Supervisor is off site
- Give clear, calm instructions and on-the-job coaching to newer team members
- Get stuck into manual orchard work, including pruning, planting, irrigation and general maintenance
- Keep work areas, sheds and equipment tidy and ready for the next job
- Make sure the crew follows safe work procedures, wears the right PPE and operates machinery safely
- Report hazards, near misses and incidents, and help put fixes in place
About you
- Skilled, experienced machinery operator (agricultural, civil, construction, mining or similar)
- Comfortable leading a small team, or ready to step up into it
- Motivated, positive team player who leads by example
- Solid safety mindset and willingness to speak up
- Current driver's licence
- Physically fit and happy working outdoors in all conditions
- Experience with GPS auto-steer (Trimble, GreenStar or similar) – desirable
- Horticulture or tree crop experience – desirable
- ChemCert / AQF3 chemical accreditation, or willingness to obtain – desirable
