Walk alongside young people on their recovery journey.
Use your lived experience of alcohol and other drugs to help young people aged 16 to 25 build a life in recovery, in a small, dynamic peer-led team. SHARC is a community of people impacted by alcohol, drugs and gambling. Our Recovery Support Services (RSS) offer a residential and day program for young people, with safe, drug-free, home-like accommodation, life skills development and peer support at the centre.
The role:
- Complete intake and comprehensive AOD assessments, and support young people through admission and induction.
- Provide recovery coaching, helping residents set goals and develop and review their recovery and exit plans.
- Facilitate groups and peer-led activities, including recreational activities.
- Help residents navigate referral pathways, and build relationships with partners such as Launch Housing and Services Victoria.
- Help shape the delivery and evaluation of the program.
You’ll bring:
- Personal lived experience of alcohol and other drug challenges and recovery, used intentionally and safely in a professional role.
- An understanding of peer support practice and AOD lived experience values.
- The capacity to build trusting relationships with young people experiencing complex needs.
- Experience with intake, assessment and recovery planning.
- An understanding of trauma-informed, recovery-oriented and culturally safe practice.
- Skills in facilitating groups, maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality, and working with diverse backgrounds and world views.
- Strong communication skills, and administrative and data entry skills using case management systems and Microsoft Office.
- A relevant qualification in AOD, mental health, community or social services;
- Training in lived experience or peer support approaches;
- Experience working with young people aged 16 to 25 or in residential, housing, homelessness, youth or AOD settings; and
- Knowledge of Victorian AOD and youth service systems.
What we offer:
- SCHADS Level 4, plus salary packaging of up to $15,900 per annum
- A workplace free of harassment and discrimination, where lived experience is central.
This is a designated AOD lived experience position, based onsite.
