  • About our client

Our client is a family-owned manufacturing business that has operated since 1995 and has established a production operation in Malaga.

The business works within the stone fabrication sector, with production covering templating, fabrication, machinery operations, dispatch and installation coordination.

The production team includes 10 people across several functions, including fabrication, machine operation, programming and related production activities.

The operation works under one roof, allowing production stages to be coordinated across the facility.

The business places focus on workplace safety, production quality, team capability and maintaining production flow.

The role reports into senior management and works with the Site Manager to plan workloads, coordinate incoming jobs and manage daily production requirements.

The business has a history of long employee tenure and is looking for someone to take responsibility for the next stage of production management.

This provides an opportunity to work within an established operation while contributing to process improvements, machineryutilisation, inventory management and team capability.

About the opportunity

The Production Manager will oversee daily manufacturing operations, coordinating people, machinery, scheduling, quality, safety, inventory and dispatch.

The role is hands-on and requires regular communication across production and management.

In this role, you will

  • Maintain on-time production across each production stage.
  • Improve production efficiency, turnaround times and machine output.
  • Monitor machine downtime, maintenance, repairs and consumables.
  • Control overtime through workload and production scheduling.
  • Reduce installation issues, damage and rework through QA processes.

You will schedule jobs through Stone Pro, allocate workloads across machinery and departments, review drawings before handover, oversee final quality checks and coordinate slab pickups and factory deliveries.

You will also manage inventory and stocktakes, order tools and consumables within approved limits, and report production incidents and corrective actions.

About you

We are looking for someone who can lead a manufacturing operation while remaining involved in production, machinery, quality and workflow.

A trade background and experience in a specialised manufacturing environment will be relevant.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have

  • A Stone Mason trade background or relevant apprenticeship.
  • Experience in stone, cabinet making, glass, steel or manufacturing.
  • Experience managing production planning, scheduling and workflow.
  • CNC, machinery programming or machine operation experience.
  • Experience supervising and developing production teams.
  • Experience managing OHS, SWMS/JSA, PPE and machine safety.
  • Experience with quality control, rework and corrective actions.
  • Experience with inventory, stocktakes, tools and consumables.
  • Experience overseeing machinery maintenance and breakdowns.
  • A driver's licence.
  • The ability to undergo a medical and drug and alcohol test.
  • Australian working rights aligned with long-term employment.
  • What's on offer

This role provides an opportunity to take ownership of daily manufacturing operations while working with an established production team.

The successful candidate will receive on-the-job training during the first few weeks, including time to shadow the current Production Manager and understand the systems, fabrication process, machinery, software and team.

The role provides exposure across production scheduling, machinery, quality assurance, inventory, safety, dispatch and team management.

It also offers scope to contribute to process improvements and the implementation of new software and tooling.

Working hours are 40 hours per week, generally 6:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Thursday, with six hours on Friday.
